Privacy Policy

What information Golden State Explained collects, how cookies and Google ads work on this site, and your California privacy rights.

Last updated: October 29, 2026.

This policy explains what information Golden State Explained ("we", "us") collects when you visit this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix the issue you raised.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps server logs with technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and the referring website. We use this to keep the site working and secure.
  • We do not collect court records about you, build profiles of individuals, or sell lists of people or businesses.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Once ads are running, we and our advertising partners use them to remember your consent choices and to show and measure ads.

Advertising and Google

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Before we serve personalized ads to visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will show them a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform.

We don't currently use affiliate links. If we add any, the company may set a cookie when you click one so it knows we referred you, and we'll update this policy and our affiliate disclosure.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use and disclose;
  • request deletion of personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising; and
  • not be discriminated against for using these rights.

To opt out of personalized advertising, use the links above. To make any other request, email contact@goldenstateexplained.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Data retention and security

We keep emails only as long as needed to answer them and keep a record of corrections. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention policy. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reputable providers and HTTPS on every page.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
